UserLand Radio UserLand - Cross-platform database, webserver, content management system, weblogger, outliner, scripting system, and much more. As with Frontier, I am a little more amazed every day as I discover what I can do with Radio UserLand. This is a program that runs on your personal machine and knows how to do many things, including rendering static web sites. It's the software that I use to do at least 90% of my web development work. It runs on Mac and Windows, with a Mac OS X version coming soon. Please note that this is a work in progress and programmers and developers will have an advantage in using it. More and more end users are working with this program, too. Highly recommended! - Editor's Pick! Dave Winer was the developer of ThinkTank many years ago, and he has brought his expertise on outlining into new products such as Frontier and Radio UserLand, which are based on an outliner and an object-oriented database. Then it's wrapped up in a scripting language, and all sorts of bells and whistles are being added. Both products are works in progress and -- as a bonus -- include almost all of the code that make them work! These are outstanding products and I highly recommend them. Just be aware that user documentation isn't as good as you might like and there is a steep learning curve to get the most from these products. Developers and programmers will feel right at home after wrapping their minds around the concepts that make these programs unique in their own right. Frontier is a server-based product, and Radio UserLand combines user-level desktop features with built-in server enhancements.
